Kasting, Buflfalo, N. Y. The E. G. Hill Co., Richmond, Ind., secured first award for 100 blooms of Timothy Eaton chrysanthemum; E. T. Grave, second; &M. ,third. These, two features alone probably made the most magnificent display of high grade blooms ever seen at the same time and place. The second day was carnation day and the blooms displayed made a fine show- ing. AH the flowers were excellent, but Bassett & Washburn, Chicago, captured most of the first premiums, no less than fifteen being credited to that firm alone. Exhibitors of carnations in addition to those given in the list of awards were J. F. Wilcox, Council Blufls, Iowa, and Crabb & Hunter, Grand Rapids, Mich. A fine vase of Mrs. H. N. Higinbotham was staged by the Chicago Carnation Company, Joliet, 111., and John N. May, Sammit, N. J., put up an exhibit of his charming new rose, Mrs. Oliver Ames. The two latter were non-competitive exhibits. On the third day, Wednesday, the spe- cial attractions were the displays of roses for the prize of $200 and the con- test for the $200 offered for the best seedling rose of American origin. The South Park Floral Co., with Bassett & in competition were a promising white and a shell pink, globular flower. The other exhibits of roses were numerous and very fine, Bassett & Washburn receiving the principal award for Beauty. Two blocks of ice containing interest- ing collections of cut bloom
