The Battle of Talavera ( 27–28 July 1809) was a battle fought some 120 kilometers south-west of Madrid, Spain in the Peninsular War when the British army under Sir Arthur Wellesley (Duke of Wellington) combined with a Spanish army in operations against French-occupied Madrid.
