The mouth of the Mawddach estuary in north Wales is crossed by the Barmouth Bridge. A rainbow ends just under one of the swinging arches lighting up an RNLI Lifeboat. Opened in 1867 it is constructed of wood and iron. Part of the bridge was rebuilt in 1901 to swing round to allow the passage of tall ships. It was built to carry a single track railway and the Cambrian line uses it to this day. Alongside the railway is a footpath for pedestrians.
