Finchingfield windmill

Finchingfield windmill is an example of a postmill. In this design of windmill the whole mill pivots on a post to turn the sails into the wind. This small windmill produced flour for local consumption rather than to supply a city. These small windmills lasted in use longer than the larger windmills which lost their trade to the roller mills.
