The project of a great Catholic university in the United States is also onefor which Bishop Spalding has labored assiduously, his project being encour-aged by the Third Plenary Council of Baltimore, which adopted his plans in1S84, a noble-hearted young Catholic lady, Miss Caldwell, having given$300,000 to begin the great undertaking. Bishop Spalding has also devotedhimself, as president of the committee in charge, to the organization and fur-therance of the Catholic educational exhibit to be made at the Worlds Fairduring this Columbian RT.
