Rough-skinned Newt Under the Water, Oregon, USA

A rough-skinned Newt sits on the rock, just under the surface of the water, in Tumble Lake, central Oregon, USA. These newts are toxic for animals to eat, but can be picked up if the person washes their hands afterwards. When threatened, they bend their head up, revealing the bright orange on their belly, indicating their poisonous toxins.
