Flues did not show his adeptnessuntil the Waite game, when he performed prodigies for the Green and was unfortunate enough to badly injure his back in the first period ofthe Tech fracas and was severely handicapped in his later playing. Some of the men were sick, otherswere ineligible or injured, and serious trouble with Massillon seemed probable. However the score against Massillon was very decisive; the team displayeda new fighting spirit and new air of confidence. What brought about thechange?
