Graves, Chester Hatch, was born in Sunder-land, Mass., Jan. 5, 1818. He was educated inthe schools of that locality. He came to Bostonin 1844, and the year following entered the houseof Seth W. Fowle, manufacturers of and dealers inpatent medicines. Here he remained until 1849,when he associated himself with the house of JohnT. Hearn, with which he was connected for aperiod of twelve years. In 1861 he engaged inbusiness for himself. Subsequently he associatedwith him in business his sons Edward C. and GeorgeA. Graves, and these two now carry on the businessunder the firm name of C. H.
