Postal Biplane, Parcel Post Stamp,1913
New US stamps for the prepayment of fourth class mail parcel postage were officially issued at the beginning of 1913. These are the only parcel post stamps ever issued by the United States Government. Parcel post was an economical way to send packages too heavy to go through the regular mail service. In all,twelve stamps with different denominations were issued.
