In its southeast quadrant the temperature rose 20° or more in 24hours, while a marked cold wave closeh followed the center of the depres-sion to the southwest, with a fall of 20° to 40° in 24 hours. In advanceof the storm the precipitation occurred as rain, excepting in the north-east where the temperature fell below 33°. Here, and to the west of the. The barometric gradients in this storm were very steep, thedifference between the pressure at the center and the outer edge of thestorm being an inch or more. (See Figs. 102-105.)
