The lower levels of an Iron Age broch built on the edge of a loch in the late 1st millennium BC are now submerged in 2m of water. As the waters rose, occupation moved in stages up the broch to first floor level where a Pictish figure-of-eight house was in use C5th-8thAD. A causeway leads from the W with successive main entrances all on the E.
