Black and white print of the 1781 painting “The Death of Leonardo da Vinci in the arms of Francis I” by French artist Francois-Guillaume Menageot (1744 – 1816). It depicts da Vinci (1452 – 1519) on his deathbed at Clos Luce, a mansion in Amboise, France. In reality Francis I was almost certainly not actually present at the great painter’s death, although the King was a close friend.
