A Damascus sabre M 1881 for an officer of the artillery Slightly curved, somewhat stained pipe-backed blade of wild Damascus, gilt etchings on both sides ("FAR" = King Frederick Augustus III as well as "Eisenhauer" and "Damast-Stahl" with Royal Saxon coat of arms), the reverse with Z-shaped maker's mark (Neuhaus, Solingen), on the back an etched purveyor's signature "Otto Graf Leipzig Gohlis". Iron basket hilt with one finger hook, sharkskin grip and triple wire wrap. Attached sword knot with green interweaves (damaged).
