English credulity, or the invisible ghost Abstract: A satire referring to the Cock Lane Ghost shows the interior of a bed-room crowded with men, some church ministers, one possibly Oliver Goldsmith, commenting on the Cock Lane ghost. Two small children lie in a bed where the ghost of Fanny Lynes, carrying a mallet (used to make knocking sounds) appears on the bedstead head-cloth. One minister looks under the bed while several women stand to the side of the bed.
