On account of the importance of this disease, we quote as follows from California Experiment Station Bulletin 197: '' The most common mistake of those who have attempted to follow the directions of the bulletin (186) has been a failure to treat the vines thoroughly or rapidly enough in the beginning of the season. It can not be too strongly urged that the most effective way to control the mildew is by a thorough and effective sulfuring in the beginning of the season. This alone will in most parts of the State keep the vines free,..
