German, trenches at the First World War battlefield Le Linge at Orbey, Alsace, France, Europe. Le Linge was one of the bloodiest battles of the First World War. Between July 20 and October 15, 1915, the Germans organized their defence here in order to prevent French troops advancing on Colmar town.
