Ardales, Malaga Province, Andalusia, southern Spain. The rock behind the village has been fortified perhaps as far back as the Romans. Mozarabic rebel leader Umar ibn Hafsun aka Omar ben Hafsun, raised a castle there in the 880's AD. During the Peninsula War the castle was destroyed.
