Landscape painter: son and pupil of Frederic de Moucheron; born at Amsterdam in1670 or 1671 and died there June 20, 1744. In 1694 he visited Rome and spent some timethere making studies of landscapes. His works are landscapes in the Italian style andshew an imitation of Caspar Poussin. In Italy he was nicknamed Ordonnance. I. 409. Rocky landscape, with stream and figures. A stream flowsover rapids towards the foreground r. On 1. a high rocky cliff, afigure standing at the bottom. Farther off is a stone bridge of onespan, on which is a man leading an ass to r.; a woman on an ass anda man follow. At the r. end of bridge a ruined round tower on thebank, which is steep and rocky.
