The heads s) are nearly twice as large as the Early Jersey Wakefield, often weighing fifteen pounds, J3 and nearly as solid as our Boston Early Hard Head, and of very compact growth. It also ® stands the cold better than many other sorts. The color is a beautiful emerald green, >* leaves smooth, small ribs, habit vigorous, stem short. Very few outer leaves, thus admit- ting of close culture, upwards of 12,000 can be planted to an acre. Our market-garden % friends will be pleased to know that it does not burst open like the Wakefield. It is par- $ ticularly adapted to thin, light soils.
