GRAPHITE IN BRAZING. It is found, says an exchange, that bymixing a certain quantity of graphite withwater or turpentine to the consistency of athin paste, and applying it to those parts ofa steel tube which it is desired that themelted brass shall not adhere to, thegraphite effectually prevents this adhesion, and thereby does away with much filing andother work formerly neccessary to removethe brazing material. This seems to resultfrom the fact that the graphite has a strongaffinity for metal surfaces, and at the sametime is not affected by the heat ; thus itsimply keeps its place upon the tubes duringthe heating, and prevents adhesion of What has made ussuccessful will make yousuccessful.
