The Great Buddha Dordenma is sited amidst the ruins of the former Kuensel Phodrang palace in the mountains of Bhutan, and is one of the largest of such statues in the world, standing at 52m. Constructed at a cost of US$47 million to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the 4th king Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the project was completed on 25 September 2015.
