Acis and Galatea Listening to the Song of Polyphemus. Tapestries for the palaces of King Louis XIV were woven in the Manufacture Royale des Gobelins, which also accommodated the workshops of other craftsmen employed by the court. This tapestry is part of a serieswith illustrations of stories from Ovid’s Metamorphoses. The set once belonged to Louis XIV.
