Jami Masjid mosque, Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, Gujurat, India

Among the five mosques which are in very good condition in the Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, the Jama Masjid (also spelled "Jami Masjid") mosque near the east gate, is considered one of the finest mosques in Western India. It was built by Sultan Begada and completed in 1508-9. It has a blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture. It is a double-storied building of symmetrical constriction, built over a high plinth, with a central dome elevated on on an open arcade, and eleven smaller domes. There are two tall octagonal minarets (30 metres high), and the mosque has172 pillars and seven mehrabs (mihrabs) in the interior. The interior carvings have non-sectarian motifs of Sun, diamonds, pots and vines, and lotus blossoms. One of the oriel (bay) windows can be seen between the two minarets. This view is taken from outside the walls of the compound.
