Representatives from the Federal Women’s Program, one of Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD)’s Special Emphasis Groups, and members of the Women for Inclusivity in Science and Engineering group at California State University, Channel Islands (CSUCI) engage and connect during a virtual collaborative informational event held March 4. The meeting provided the workforce and the school’s faculty an opportunity to connect, problem solve and share research ideas while also sparking interest for future collaborations. The event is the first official event held by the recently-formed WISE-PHD Collaboration Program, aimed at supporting women in the workforces of PHD and CSUCI and promoting and supporting female CSUCI students to enter science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education fields and the STEM workforce. The two joined forces as women in both workforces face similar challenges as members of technical organizations.
