The Stirling Falls in full flow at Milford Sound, Fiordland National Park, Te Wahipounamu World Heritage Area, Southland Region, South Island, New Zealand. The Sound is actually a fjord and is one of New Zealand’s most popular destinations. It was carved by a glacier and hundreds of temporary waterfalls cascade off the steep cliffs after heavy rain. The Stirling falls are a relatively permanent feature on the sound.
