The portion above ground is slightly green, the root is long, and the skin white, smooth, and watery. Por- tions of this are slightly hairy, and without small ad- hesive roots, and the yield per hectare (two and a half acres) frequently attains 55,000 kilog. (121,000 lbs.). Fig. 3.
