In 1852 Meshech Browningbuilt a mill and the famous old dam, and to-day the waters of the old dam are from 50to 150 yards wide and more than a milelong, and the angler is provided with a boatfrom which he conducts his operations. Attimes hundreds of fine trout can be seendisporting themselves in the somber depths,and the angler never wants for sport. For many miles above the old dam thereis fine fishing, and many a trout from 15 to20 inches in length has been landed fromthis stream. Nor is this the only streamof Garret County. The others are legion,although all smaller in size than MuddyCreek, which by the way belies its name,for its waters are clear as crystal, distilled the hosts of the North and the South whofell in the cause which they thought just,even the enthusiastic trouting pilgrim attimes turns his mind to the evidences ofthat great struggle with which he is con-stantly
