Theclub owes its existence primarily to IMr. WilliamW. Montgomery and Mr. Maskell Ewing, whoconceived the idea of organizing a cricket club inthe neighborhood of Lower Merion. Cricket,having been played at Dr. Lyonss school and atHaverford College in the early sixties, deep interestwas already felt in the development of the game.
