A casket by Michel Mann, Nuremberg, circa 1600, Rectangular miniature case of fire-gilt brass on four swamped ball feet. Riveted, partly openwork edge reinforcements, a false keyhole at the front. Lid with covered keyhole and movable handle. Blued mechanism with four latches, chaplet with gilt appliqué. Hollow shank key with gilt trefoil bow. The outside profusely covered with engravings. The lid with depiction of two leaping dogs, the front with two birds, the remaining sides with fruit festoons. Inside the lid punched signature "MM".
