Barangaroo, pictured looking south along Hickson Road from an elevated vantage point on High Street in Millers Point, is undergoing massive redevelopment. Named Cockle Bay Point in 1788, the area was absorbed into Millers Point in the 1820s. In 2003 plans for redevelopment began; a former stevedoring plant, Barangaroo will feature five-star hotels and a casino. In March 2014, work on the site was disrupted by fires at the site.
