It is only proper then, to offer to God a hymn of thanksgiving forthe Faith, and for its many triumphs during the last 300 years. The celebration of the Tercentenary will take place at Quebecwhere our first Missionaries pitched their tent. The commemorativeMonument will stand on the precise spot where the Recollects led theirpenitent and apostohc life, up to the end of the 18th century. In 1620, the Recollects built a convent and dedicated it to Our Ladyof the Ajigels. It stood on the banks of the St. Charles River. In 1670,they began to rebuild their convent on the same spot. In 1692, Mgr. deSt. Vallier converted it into the General Hospital. He permitted the Recollects to have a regular conventin the upper part of the town. This convent was dedi-cated to St. Antony of Padua. The convent Church was built and tastefully deco-rated, for the most part by the Recollects the
