Both of these should be sown early in spring with timothy, four or five pounds of seed to the acre, in the same manner that red clover seed is sown. As Alsike seeds itself each year, and so lasts much longer than red clover, I think it pays well to mix the seed, using about three pounds of Alsike clover seed and five or six of red clover. As Alsike clover is visited freely by honey-bees the first growth of the season, unlike red clover, it seeds bountifully. By cutting Alsike clover.
