Dumbarton Castle River Clyde Scotland


Dumbarton Castle stands on Dumbarton Rock, its self 334 million year old volcanic basalt plug in the town of Dumbarton in the west of Scotland on the river Clyde. The castle built in the iron age has the longest recorded history of any Scottish stronghold, though today its wide open to the public as a tourist attraction. Across the water in Langbank this landmark is visible to the fast moving traffic that rushes along the Clyde water front and a good a place to photograph this historic landmark.
