Owing to the uncertainty of the exact position of theforces when a ring of such great curvature is stressed andsomewhat distorted by a load, it has not been possible withthe apparatus at my present disposal to establish any veryaccurate relationship between the external and internalforces. The present examples, however, serve to illustrate thepractical uses which it is possible to make of this method ofanalysing the stresses produced in any object capable ofbeing represented in a plane by a model cut from a sheet oftransparent material.
