Light micrograph of mucous tubulo-acini of the sublingual gland stained with the periodic acid method of Schiff (PAS). The mucous secretion is intensely PAS positive. In the contour of the tubule-acini, the flattened nuclei of the mucous cells can be seen. Among the tubulo-acini, there are excretory ducts, concretely striated ducts (the intercalar ducts are difficult to see as they are very little developed in the sublingual gland). Magnification: x180 when printed at 10 centimetres across.
