. Florists' review [microform]. Floriculture. 106 The Florists'Review *-??? Mat .28, ?- ?'"?'?- MILWAT7EEE, WIS. Tbe Market. Memorial day is fast approaching and the trade is extremely busy with advance orders for that time. The or- ders arc coming in fast and from indi- cations it will be one of the largest holi- days the florists have seen. Roses are coming on nicely and the crop will be about right for Memorial day sales. Killarneys are in prime condition and Wards, Tafts and Russells are also es- pecially fine. The supply of roses in general will be large enough to supply the demand, which will be quite heavy. The carnation crop has been aflEfected to a great extent by the extremely warm weather which has been with us for the last week. This condition has brought the quality of this stock below standard, but as cool, cloudy weather has now set in it is expected that the crop will harden up and be in fine shape for the Memorial day trade. The sup- ply, while somewhat limited, will be sufficient to take care of most of the demands made upon it. There is a large supply of sweet peas on the market, but most of them are poor and bring next to nothing. What good stock there is, is bringing top-notch prices, as there is always a good mar- ket for first-class stock. Peonies are looking fine and this stock will be one of the big factors in the business done for Memorial day. Easter lilies are abundant and these will be cheap flow- ers for the holiday trade. If the weather is not too warm, it is expected that tulips will be in fine con- dition at the end of this week. At pres- ent the stock is poor and is not clean- ing up well. some, exception- ally fine iris on the market at this time, which is bringing good prices. The sale of spring plants is enormous this year and the stock is moving rapid- ly. Growers of this stock report large sales and that they are entirely cleaned out of some varieties already.
