CHARLES CARROLL GREENLEY removed when quite young to Hamil-ton, New York. When he was seventeen years of age he went to Ithaca, NewYork, where he engaged in mercantile business with his uncle, Fred T. Green-ley. In Jlarch, 1867 he removed to Chicago, and was employed in the whole-sale house of J. V. Farwell until 1871, then went into the Fire Insurance busi-ness. He first became well known in fire insurance circles in connection withthe old firm of O. W. Barrett & Company. In 1885 he became connected withthe agency of Ducat & Lyon, where he remained continuously until his death,having been admitted as a member of the firm some two or three years priorto his decease.
