Shasta daisies have com- Bttenced to come in, but the flowers are small, on account of the dry weather. Sweet peas are becoming scarce and few are of any use. Rubrum lilies are abundant and are selling fast, especial- ly for funeral work. Various Notes. Arthur Newell has had a big run on small baskets. He makes up five to ten of these baskets every day for the win- dow display, soiling most of them be- fore evening. It is a good way to use up short-stemmed stock. These little baskets are used mostly for hospitals, being something different from the usu- al box of flowers. They are made at- tractive and people are quick to buy them. Mr. Newell says these things are what make the store attractive and what help to keep the business up through the summer months. He also believes in keeping his store attractive through the summer months, as well as in the winter. T. J. Noll is receiving some of the finest roses and carnations that ever were seen in this city at this time of the year. He is getting his supply from the mountain region in the west.
