Mr. f. L. Oppenheimer, whose appointment as generalsuperintendent of the Lexington & Interurban Railway,Lexington, Ky., was noted in the Electric Railway Jour-nal of July 3, 1909, page 54, entered the electric railway field in 1899, when he pro-. I. L. Oppenheimer moted the Ohio RiverElectric Railway & PowerCompany. Mr. Oppen-heimer succeeded in finan-cing this company andconstructing the line asoriginally proposed in 1900,in which year he becameidentified with Mr. JohnBlair MacAfee and Chand-ler Brothers & Companyinterests, and he has beenconnected with them sincethat time. During thisperiod and up to the timeof accepting the positionof general superintendentof the Lexington & Inter-urban Railway Mr. Oppen-heimer was the head ofthe Ohio River ElectricRailway & Power Company, and still remains a director ofthe company. This was one of the first electric railways inthe United States to interchange carload freight with asteam railroad, a physical connection between it and theHocking Valley Railway being made immediately after itscompletion.
