Featherstar. The featherstar (class Crinoidea) is an ancient and primitive marine invertebrate, which belongs to the group that includes the starfish. It uses its feathery and fragile arms to catch and convey microscopic plankton and detritus to its mouth at the base of its arms. The featherstar is a free-swimming animal, usually found on rocks in deeper water. Photographed off Tonga, Pacific Ocean.
