A large crowd carry the body of Mehraj Bangroo, a rebel commander killed during a gun fight with Indian government forces at Fateh Kadal in Srinagar on 17 October 2018. According to police sources, an early morning cordon and search operation turned into a gun battle during which Lashkar-e-Toiba top commander, Mehraj Bangroo, and his associate Fahad Waza were killed. The police issued a statement saying that one policeman was also killed and three were injured in the encounter and that Raees Ahmed, the owner of the house where the militants were hiding, was also killed
