Teen boys swimming along the "Malecon" in Havana, Cuba.

Many Cubans escape the perpetual heat by swimming or wading in the cool waters of their extensive shorelines. Most of the year is oppressively hot so the Cuban government dug out numerous "pools" in the large rock formations on the water front in Havana to provide their citizens a place to swim. Cubans are big pet lovers and they love to bring their dogs to the water as well for a dip. Air conditioners are rare in Havana and even then most inhabitants can not afford the electricity needed to run them. And then the issue becomes the lack of substantial power grid in Cuba and the limited supply of electrical power it can provide.
