TATA box-binding protein complex. Molecular model showing a TATA box-binding protein (TBP, lilac) complexed with a strand of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid, green and red), transcription factor IIB (purple) and adenoviral major late promoter (ADMLP). TBP is a general transcription factor that binds specifically to the TATA box DNA sequence during DNA transcription. TATA boxes are found in the promoter region of a gene, the area where transcription is initiated from.
