The history of Egypt is the oldest history known to is true that the earhest of the Babylonian kings whosenames are known lived very little later than the earliestkings of Egypt, nevertheless our knowledge of the earlyEgyptian is greater than of the early Babylonian large portion of Egyptian history can be constructedfrom the native records of the Egyptians, and it is nowpossible to correct and modify many of the statementsupon this subject made by Herodotus, Diodorus Siculusand other classical authors. The native and other docu-ments from which Egyptian history is obtained are :— I. Lists of Kings found in the Turin Papyrus, theTablet of Abydos, the Tablet of Sakkarah, and theTablet of Karnak.
