Black Fox, Silver-fox, Cross Fox (Julpcs dcciissata), CommonFox.—All the species of fox are confined to the northern common fox is very numerous. OTHER FUR-BEARING ANIMALS. Beaver (Castor fiber).—Found everywhere in the Province, bothon the and the islands. Racoon (Procyon lotor).—There are quantities of these animalsall along the coast and for some distance up the rivers. Marten (Mnstcia caurina).—Found on both the mainland and theislands. The best skins are obtained in the north. Marten {Pennants), commonly called Fisher.—Found in smallnumbers more or less all over the mainland. Mink {Llitrcola vison).—Most plentiful on the coast, but arefound more or less throughout the Province.
