The canyons (upper left) are the western end of Tithonium Chasma and Ius Chasma, part of the Valles Marineris canyon system on the Martian equator. The canyons seen here are up to kilometres deep. This view looks north-east. It shows darker material and cracks formed by geological processes. The area shown is over 100 kilometres across. Data from the High Resolution Stereo Camera.
