NATHANIEL ALDEN ROBBINS, ,Physician and Surgeon, was born in Salem,Massachusetts, in 1840, son of Nathaniel C. andSarah Ann (Wiggin) Robbins. He received liisearly eilucation in private schools and afterwardstook up tlic study of medicine. At the breaking-nnt of the Civil War he entered the navy, serving Pastor of Congregational Church at Cambridgeport,Mass., 1831 ; President of Amherst College, 1854, untilhis death ; Overseer of Harvard, 1848-54; , Har-vard, 1853; , Princeton, 1862; died NAlIIANIl;i. A. uoi;iu\.s one year, and in 1S62 acconi|ianied the SalemCadets to Fort \\arren, IJoston Harbor, where heperformed a duty as Corporal for six montlis. Hecontinued in the service of the United States in amedical capacity until the close of the war, receivinghis medical degree from Harvard in 1864. Afterhis resignation in 1865, he located for practice inBrooklyn, New York, where he is still professional career has been an exceedinglybusy one, and during the past sixteen years he hasheld, in addition to his private practice, the post ofChief Surgeon to the Brooklyn (now Greater NewYork) Fire Department. Dr. Robbins is a memberof the Crescent Athletic Club of Brooklyn. Politi-cally he acts with the Democratic party. In October1864, he married Mary Beckford Kenible, and hisonly daughte
