View of Beam Bridge and the river Torridge near Great Torrington in winter. Beam bridge was initially built as an aqueduct to carry the canal from the navigable River Torridge in Bideford in to Great Torrington. Built by Lord Rolle and completed in 1827 it was only in operation for a few years before the railway was completed in 1872. The bridge now gives access to Beam House an outdoor adventure centre.
