Sassanid relief of The Investiture of Narseh (293-303 AD), Naqsh-e Rostam, Marvdasht, Iran


Naqsh-e Rostam is an ancient necropolis in the Marvdasht valley containing tombs of the Achaemenid kings carved into the face of a fawn-colored limestone cliff in the shape of Persian crosses. Between and below the tombs reliefs from the Sassanid period 224 AD to 651 AD) are carved into the rocks, this one celebrating the Investiture of Narseh (293-303 AD).
