Outside of the localities in which thefisheries are prosecuted little knowledge exists as to their extent,methods, and importance; and in considering the natural resources ofthe State, the vastness of its other branches is apt to completely over-shadow the fisheries. In the investigation of 1891 the coastal regionsof Texas were canvassed by the writer, in the capacity of a field agentof the Division of Fisheries, and the present report represents the re-sults of personal observations made at that time.
